Plus Size Clothing Winter Trends 2005
Fashion Trends for Fall 2005
Now that Fall 2005 is upon us once more, let's take a look at the winter fashion trends out there on the high street.
The season is awash with dark, sombre yet elegant hues of chocolate, plum, purple, teal, ochre green and burnt orange as well as muted mustard and dusky pink shades to offset the dark tones. Black is back - but it is more "dressed up" than before in soft fabrics, embellished with details such as sequins, embroidery, lace. These serve to dress up the "bare plain" black of previous years.
If you look through the pictures from the summer fashion shows, and then see how the high street has copied this look to make it more accessible and wearable for the masses, you can see how the military theme dominates. The Military look jacket is a must have this season. Jackets come cropped or slightly tailed from the waist and have lots of heavy bold detail, be it in the form of body braiding, cuff and/or epaulette trims. They come in cord and velvet, with large buttons, worn with collarless shirts or baby doll tops and embroidered, flowery patterned skirts giving a mixed up vintage feel.
Denim is still there, a staple of our everyday wardrobe, but this time its embellished - sequins, embroidery, somehow still retaining details of ethnic influences.
Shirts or blouses have a romantic allure about them. The look is softer and more feminine with bits of lace, ribbon trims and velvet. They are perfect under fitted velvet jackets.
Gilets are back also as well as patterned knits and layered clothing and once again suede and leather feature rather heavily.
Shrugs, a shorter, neater version of the poncho have their place in the winter wardrobe also. Along with fitted jackets, high boots and a full skirt or culottes give a new look for fall 2005.
Accessories
Bold bags are a must have. Oversized leather slouch bags and large tapestry bags abound, in rich dark earthy colors. In this cold season, boots are back, as usual but the trends are for riding boots in distressed leather, everything has that slightly worn out rough look and feel to it.
Must-haves:
Fur trims
Embellished jeans
Military inspired jacket or coat
Animal prints
Cuff bracelets
And don't forget your posture. Straight backs, shoulders back, head up and looking straight ahead!
